Special Guests

Over the years, Woody has welcomed several International players to W7s to allow the girls to meet their idols, be coached by them and to grab signatures and photos with them.

Sale and Red Rose Detysha Harper gave a group of U11s a chance to be seen, heard and the experience being coached by someone that they looked up to.

As the age groups changed over the years it became apparent that some clubs found recruitment at U12s difficult. So Woody ran a competition to build an U12s barbarians side, which also helped to promote Community Kit Bag and the amazing work that Matt and his team do.

For those of you who know their rugby will know that the Barbarians have a high profile set of coaches and Woody wanted to do the same. He welcomed 2 Red Roses in the shape of Saracen's Poppy Cleal and Harlequins' Connie Powell.

They spent all weekend with the girls, coaching them and cheering on them from the side of the pitch

With the 2025 Women's World Cup being held in England Woody felt it was important to enthuse, inspire and empower the girls attending with the addition of 2 Red Roses, who were part of the World Cup winning squad of 2014.

Laura Keates, currently playing for Loughborough Lightning, and Kat Merchant, currently spreading body positivity with her fitness company, joined the 2025 Barbarians.

With the help of Base3 Solutions Woody was able to build a Barbarians team from Gloucestershire whilst offering 30 additional girls, who stood out for embracing amazing core values, a chance for a private training session with both Laura and Kat.
